Mutare

A choreographic play in three passages, inspired by The Book of Changes (I Ching).

The Mexican company Contempodanza, directed by the founder teacher Cecilia Lugo, introduced Mutare in 2017, a play based on three oracular readings. K'an Abyss (29), Huan Dissolution (59) and Ta Kuo Great Exceeding (28) are displayed from the creative perspective of three choreographers.

In the first video, you'll find the very director telling about what inspired her, the changes in her style and personal stamps, and the peculiar creative process she experienced along with the other artists in the play while they poured ideas into their bodies and expressed them as corporal moves.

You may enjoy the full play in the second video (approx. 50'), with music and motion as ways to get out of repetition but closer to integration, inside of change, as well as changing while integrating.

Since December 2023, Contempodanza has announced on Facebook that the company's activities are indefinitely suspended.
